Sheppard Kolb is the owner and president of Kolb Appraisals, a full
service appraisal company located in Portsmouth, RI. He is an
experienced, energetic residential real estate appraiser with 30 years
of experience in the real estate industry. Noted for work output, a
high level of productivity based on hands-on involvement, attention to
detail, technological savvy and an overall commitment to the real
estate industry throughout Rhode Island, Mr. Kolb’s clients include
both larger national mortgage companies and many independently owned
firms operating primarily in the State of RI.
Mr.
Kolb holds Bachelor’s degrees in Science and Business Administration
from the University of RI, and served his two-year real estate
appraisal training apprenticeship at Whittier Partners. He is FHA
certified, and makes a point of keeping up-to-date with the latest FNMA
guidelines. Mr. Kolb is constantly working at maintaining his
credentials and updating his knowledge by participating in various
courses relative to the real estate field, including Appraisal
Principles, Residential Case Studies, USPAP Guidelines, URAR,
Confronting Environment Issues, Financing & Cash Equivalence,
Residential Site Appraisals, New Construction Technology, Big Three
Environmental Properties, and Appraising for Federal Agencies. He is an
active member of the Appraisal Institute and Rhode Island Association
of Realtors. Mr. Kolb is also a licensed real-estate broker for a local
Keller-Williams office, and has served on the Tax Appeal Board for the
Town of Middletown.
In addition to his appraisal business, Mr.
Kolb and his business partner have also pursued the acquisition and
resale of commercial and residential property. He has been actively
involved in all phases of the process, including purchasing,
construction, development, subdivision, management, and selling, with
particular experience in the rehabilitation of vacant and abandoned
properties. Mr. Kolb has also created several condominium conversions,
including the drafting of condominium documents with the assistance of
legal counsel.
